"Angels in the Shadows" opens up like a silent path through a mysterious forest. Delicate fern shapes merge with shades of white and blue, interspersed with warm pink and red - a play of contrasts that makes the complexity of life visible. The work is reminiscent of the invisible angels in Wenders' film - hidden companions who guide and protect.
Around 50 layers of acrylic, Japanese drawing ink and watercolor give the picture depth and a changing brilliance. Depending on the incidence of light, lively, unmistakable effects are created that captivate the eye again and again.
The work was shown in 2004 at the castle of Asnières-sur-Seine in the exhibition "Nature/Composition", where it was chosen by the visitors as their favorite painting...

I love Wim Wenders' idea that benevolent beings - almost like angels - accompany our steps and give us orientation, especially in moments of doubt.
The floating fern leaves represent the path we take in the course of our lives. The delicate shades of white and blue create an atmosphere of clarity and calm, as if we are following an invisible trail, guided by a gentle, hopeful light.
All it takes is a single beam of light...

This work invites us to keep faith - even when life feels like an impenetrable forest and the path remains unclear. The strong contrasts between pink-red and blue-green reflect the intensity of life: light and shadow, doubt and hope.
Despite the thicket, there is always a glow that leads us on. If we remain true to our values, new beginnings emerge. We are never really alone - we are connected to something bigger that carries us.
