You are immediately drawn under its spell...

"The first time you look at a work by Anja Hagemann, you are immediately captivated by her abstract and colorful universe. The vibrant hues and the joy radiating from them entice you to want to find out more about her art. Anja's abstraction is flowing and light, oscillating between soft, sparkling clouds and dense fields of color.

The plant imprints provide a figurative element for the mind to latch onto before losing itself in the vibrant, colorful swirls of her work. In her peaceful works, nature reveals itself through ramifications and unfolds over the entire surface.

The vegetation permeates the background. The colorful fern prints lend the works relief and depth. Everything here revolves around lightness and balance."

From light to darkness : Anja Hagemann's artistic evolution

"A melting pot of influences

Anja Hagemann combines the best of many worlds in her art. Her works are an explosion of the raw vitality of German Expressionism, the luminous colorfulness of French Fauvism and the lyrical harmony of the Nabis. Her journey began at the renowned Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Here she learned from Abraham Pincas how to create precious colors with pigments. Jean-François Debora taught her anatomy and helped her to understand balance and tension in the human body.

Between shadow and light

Initially, her works were characterized by deep colour and intense vibrancy. They tell of the wounds to our souls. Growing up in a toxic environment, she courageously faced her inner demons. Isn't it precisely these shadows that give her paintings their incredible power and joie de vivre? "You have to know the darkness to appreciate the light," she often thought."

Discover the catalog for the exhibition "Curtain up: Rush of colors"

From February 16 to April 14, 2018, Anja presented her impressive exhibition "Curtain Up: Color Rush" at the renowned Pavillon Vendôme in Clichy. The exhibition is divided into 3 creative periods.

Fragments of memory:

In this first phase, Anja showed early works in which vivid colors and everyday elements told dreamy stories and created a surrealistic world.

Light and transparency:

Here, colors danced in airy compositions and opened up fascinating depths, permeated by light and transparency.

Lines of force:

Large-format paintings showed powerful movements of color and line that captured the pulsating energy of life and the dynamic forces of nature.

In the catalog you will find all the important information about Anja Hagemann's career, her artistic intentions and her inspirations.

It also offers exciting insights into the creative process and possible future collaborations.

What would love do?

This is the central question of her latest series "Say Yes". These works combine unusual materials: sand, potato prints, pigments with coffee grounds and fabrics dyed with tea and watercolors. The collages fascinate through the interaction of shiny and matt surfaces. Unexpected structures emerge and create sculptural effects on the canvas.

The visual encounter with the unexpected invites us to welcome change. Under the motto "What would love do?", these works inspire and promote a positive attitude towards change. A new perspective emerges, full of creativity and dynamism.
